Chirumhanzu South legislator, Babra Rwodzi, has commended the Government for spearheading transformative projects in her constituency, highlighting their potential to significantly improve the livelihoods of residents.
Speaking at a Thank You Rally held at the Siyahokwe Business Centre last weekend, Cde Rwodzi lauded the Government's efforts in bringing about life-changing developments in the area.
During her address, Cde Rwodzi specifically praised the completion of the US$1 million Holy Cross Dam, emphasising its critical role in supporting irrigation activities within the constituency.
Additionally, she announced the forthcoming establishment of a sunflower oil industrial plant at Charandura Growth Point, with 400 farmers already contracted to commence sunflower farming.
Cde Rwodzi also expressed confidence in these projects' capacity to create employment opportunities and stimulate economic growth within the community.
In addressing concerns about food security, Cde Rwodzi assured the constituency that no one would suffer from hunger, as the Government had implemented measures to provide food relief to vulnerable communities amidst the looming drought.
The proactive approach taken by the Government in addressing the challenges faced by rural communities garnered appreciation from the people of Chirumhanzu South.
One villager, Shyllet Mubaiwa, expressed gratitude for the completion of the Holy Cross Dam, stating, "the completion of the Holy Cross Dam is a welcome development as it will improve our livelihoods through irrigation activities."
Mubaiwa's sentiments echoed the widespread sentiment among residents, who recognised the significance of such infrastructure in improving agricultural productivity and ensuring food security in the region.
Gilford Mutandwa, another villager of Chirumhanzu South, praised the Government's initiative to set up an oil processing plant, acknowledging its ability to offer vital employment prospects for the local populace.
"The establishment of the oil processing plant holds great promise for our community, as it signifies the potential for job creation and economic empowerment," remarked Mutandwa.
The prospect of industrial development in the area was met with optimism, as it promised to stimulate economic activity and enhance the socio-economic well-being of residents.
Meanwhile, as the New Dispensation continues to prioritise rural development, the future looks promising for communities across Zimbabwe, as they are poised for growth and advancement under effective governance.
