Chibaya accused of orchestrating CCC discord

Former Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) Organizing Secretary, Amos Chibaya, finds himself embroiled in accusations of masterminding the current turmoil within that party, despite publicly severing ties and expressing intentions to join Nelson Chamisa's forthcoming political venture.

A source close to the matter, who spoke on condition of anonymity, divulged to this publication a clandestine scheme allegedly orchestrated by Chibaya to undermine the CCC from within, with the aid of his suspected lover, former Manicaland Proportional Representative, Monica Mukwada.

"Chibaya wants to see the demise of CCC and he has convinced his suspected lover, Monica Mukwada, not to quit CCC and to maintain her position as the CCC National Women's Taskforce Coordinator. He aims to use her to continue spying on behalf of Chamisa and himself,” said the source

According to the source, Chibaya's purported motive is to engineer the downfall of CCC while positioning himself and his confidantes favourably within Chamisa's upcoming political fact.

The source disclosed that Mukwada, initially inclined to follow Chamisa, was persuaded by Chibaya to remain within the CCC ranks, assuming the role of the National Women's Taskforce Coordinator, purportedly to serve as Chibaya's eyes and ears within that party.

The source further revealed Chibaya's alleged modus operandi of leveraging personal relationships with women within CCC to advance his political agenda.

It is claimed that Chibaya manipulates these relationships to secure loyalty and instrumentalize these individuals to further his political aspirations.

Moreover, the source disclosed an open secret within the opposition circles, alleging an intimate relationship between Chibaya and Mukwada, suggesting that their association extends beyond mere political collaboration.

"If CCC is not careful, Mukwada will continue to cause chaos within that party as whatever she will be doing as CCC National Women's Taskforce Coordinator, she would be taking instructions from Chibaya," the source warned.

Last year, Chibaya faced accusations of favouritism after allegedly pushing for his girlfriend, Memory Makasi, to become a CCC candidate in the Nketa constituency, highlighting concerns over the fairness of candidate selection processes and the influence of personal relationships in party politics.

Efforts to reach Chibaya and Mukwada for comment on these allegations were unsuccessful at the time of reporting, leaving unanswered questions lingering over the future trajectory of CCC and the potential ramifications of these revelations on the opposition politics at large.
