Speaking on the sidelines of the event to take their oaths, Chegutu West legislator, Shakemore Timburwa, noted there were different issues that needed to be addressed including farmers’ access to funding.
“There is need to facilitate for farmers to have access to funding which is very critical for them to smoothly carry out their agricultural projects.
“If you know in Chegutu we have 12 silos with a capacity of 5000 metric tonnes each, so it means those silos need to be filled up by the same farmers to contribute to national food security,” said Honorable Timburwa.
The Chegutu West legislator also touched on water reticulation issues and the supply of clean water to Chegutu residents.
“We have the sewer system contaminating our water reticulation system. We are currently in the process of creating a new system that separates the sewer from the clean water pipes. We also intend to drill boreholes,” said MP Timburwa.
