Zanu PF is supporting Government initiatives such as the Presidential Input Scheme and also promoting household food security in Chitungwiza Ward 12 ahead of the upcoming 3 February By-Elections.
In an exclusive interview with Harare Post Chitungwiza Ward 12 Zanu PF Chairman, Gift Munyaradzi Choto emphasized the significant support received through the Zanu PF-led presidential input scheme. Choto revealed that Zanu PF facilitated a substantial allocation of 12,000 tonnes of seed and fertilizer for the ward, a crucial initiative underpinning the Government’s efforts to empower the local community.
Speaking on the distribution strategy, Choto explained, “We organized our distribution according to polling station campaign-based teams. The process commenced in Zengeza 3 and extended to Nyatsime (referred to as Zengeza 5B in the district). Due to the large number of residents, we distributed the inputs in two batches.”
Highlighting the broader scope of support, Choto informed the Harare Post about an additional boost from the party.
“Last week, we received 3,000 chickens from the party, and we managed to distribute 10 per person across the ward. This not only contributes to food security but also empowers families economically,” he stated.
Addressing essential infrastructure needs, Choto mentioned the ongoing efforts to complete borehole drilling.
“We identified boreholes that were left unfinished during the 2023 Presidential Borehole Scheme. We inquired about the required equipment for completion and followed up with the responsible individuals. While we are still awaiting the finalization of the drilling, steps have been taken to ensure the community’s water needs are met,” he asserted.
Furthermore, Choto said that the combined efforts by Zanu-PF not only address immediate needs but also contribute to the overall development and well-being of the community.
“The allocation of seed, fertilizer, and chickens, along with the borehole initiatives, showcase Zanu PF’s commitment to supporting Government efforts in uplifting the lives of citizens in Ward 12.”
He said However, Chitungwiza Ward 12, characterized as Zone 1 in political terms, stands as the most extensive ward in Chitungwiza, comprising at least 10,800 registered voters and spanning three political districts. Choto expressed pride in the unity and dedication within the ward, emphasizing that Zanu PF support enhances Government initiatives, strengthening community bonds and promoting household food security.
As the ward prepares for the upcoming by-elections, the impact of these interventions resonate positively among residents, reflecting a collaborative approach between Zanu PF and the Government to enhance the quality of life for Chitungwiza Ward 12 residents.
