Economic analysts are lauding the imminent inauguration of the Dinson-Manhize Iron and Steel production plant, set to commence operations in February 2024.
According to economic analysts, this industrial venture promises a transformative impact on Zimbabwe's economy.
Terrence Chapwanya, a notable economic analyst highlighted the plant’s substantial contribution to infrastructure development.
“The establishment of the iron and steel plant will catalyse the creation of a comprehensive railroad network. This development aligns with ambitious plans to bolster transportation infrastructure, enhancing connectivity across the nation.
“Furthermore, the plant's establishment positions Zimbabwe to house one of Africa's largest steelmaking companies, elevating its stature on the continental industrial stage,”Chapwanya added
Another economist, Sarah Ncube emphasized the synergy between the Manhize project and infrastructure development.
“It not only addresses immediate industrial needs but also lays the foundation for sustained growth through improved transportation networks," Ncube said
Furthermore, the much anticipated job creation stemming from the plant's operations has been a focal point of applause.
“Nearly 25,000 employment opportunities are expected to be created in the final phase of production.
“The injection of jobs by Dinson-Manhize production plant is set to significantly reduce unemployment concerns as it bolsters household incomes, fostering a positive ripple effect on various sectors,” she said.
Echoing Ncube’s sentiments, economic analyst James Chigumadzi said, "The Dinson-Manhize project stands as a commendable example of how industrial endeavours can serve as engines for job creation, fostering economic inclusivity."
Chigumadzi further underscored the pivotal role the iron and steel plant plays in advancing the mining sector.
“The Manhize Project aligns with the second republic's vision of creating a robust $12.5 billion mining economy by 2030, as well as strategically propelling Zimbabwe towards becoming a regional mining powerhouse,” he said.
