In what is being touted as a move to strengthen his hold on the party, the leader of the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), Nelson Chamisa, is reportedly preparing to make significant changes to the CCC directorate.

This comes in the wake of intense intra-party rivalry surrounding the choice of Harare's mayor.

An inside source confided in this publication that among those on Chamisa's radar for reshuffling or removal are the CCC Director in the Organising Department, Farai Chinobva, and the Chief of Staff, Trust Mamombe. Both individuals reportedly did not back Chamisa's preferred choice for the Harare mayoral position.

The information provided suggests that Chamisa had a strong inclination towards Ian Makone for the Harare mayoral seat, who eventually clinched the victory.

Chinobva, however, had been rallying behind his close ally and outgoing mayor Jacob Mafume to continue in the role. Similarly, Trust Mamombe was said to have backed Ward 28 councillor George Mujajati.

Beyond the mayoral contest, whispers within the CCC corridors indicate a growing discontent with Chamisa's leadership style.

The source stated that both Mamombe and Chinobva were overheard expressing concerns about Chamisa's purported unwillingness to take advice from others in the party.

Meanwhile, on Harare City's political scene, there are murmurs about a potential plot brewing against the newly elected mayor, Ian Makone.

Reports hint that the outgoing mayor, Jacob Mafume, is orchestrating a scheme to undermine Makone's leadership. The alleged goal is to incite public discontent and possibly set the stage for a revolt against Makone before his term concludes.
