President Emmerson Mnangagwa has called on urban dwellers to vote the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) party out of the urban councils highlighting that they have failed to deliver.
Addressing a gathering at Robert Mugabe Square today, President Mnangagwa encouraged the people to vote for Zanu PF a party which has the people's interests at heart unlike the opposition CCC which has proven to be futile towards meeting the needs of the urbanites.
“The opposition led councils have failed dismally in managing our cities; it’s time to vote them out. On the 23rd of August we must democratically and constitutionally kick out these councils, and we vote in Zanu PF candidates who will address the needs of the people.
“The Zanu PF Government is for love, development and it focuses on improving the livelihoods of Zimbabweans,” said President Mnangagwa.
President Mnangagwa indicated that the Harare City Council which is currently being run by the CCC party has failed to offer street lights, refurbish roads, collect refuse and to offer clean water to the people in Harare and other urban areas across the country. He therefore urged the Zimbabweans to vote for Zanu PF which would ensure that Harare retains its ‘dirt free’ status.
President Mnangagwa highlighted that Zanu PF rejects the day light robbery by the CCC party in the Councils and reiterated that it must be kicked out come 23 August 2023.
Moreover, President Mnangagwa has urged Zimbabweans to maintain peace during and after the elections. He indicated that the country`s detractors wish for Zimbabweans to become violent and cause chaos but he advised the people to shame the detractors and demonstrate peace during and after the elections.
Meanwhile, the CCC party is on a drive trying to provoke Zanu PF supporters into violent acts, in the sight of foreign observers particularly the European Union Elections Observer Mission (EU-EOM).
