The recent announcement by Government to extend National Heroes' Day commemorations to all provinces and districts has been met with widespread praise, the Harare Post can report.

Speaking during an interview with this publication, political analyst Terrence Chipwanya, commended the move as a positive step towards fostering unity and inclusivity in the country.

"The move will help to ensure that all Zimbabweans have the opportunity to pay tribute to their local heroes. It is also recognition of the diverse contributions made by countless individuals who have selflessly served Zimbabwe and its people.

“The extension of commemorations to all provinces and districts will ensure that every community has the chance to come together and remember their fallen heroes and heroines. This will help to foster a sense of unity and pride, as Zimbabweans from all walks of life come together to celebrate their shared history,” said Chipwanya.

Furthermore, another political analyst, Eldred Masunungure commended the Government while emphasizing on the empowerment of communities to be ushered in by this new development.

"This is a significant move that will help to empower local communities and ensure that every region is represented and celebrated, This will help to foster a sense of ownership and belonging, as local communities have the chance to organize and host their own ceremonies,” said Masunungure.

Furthermore, while speaking during a post cabinet brief, Minister Information, Publicity and Broadcasting Services, Monica Mutsvangwa said that the 2023 National Heroes Commemorations will be held at the National Heroes Acre on Monday 14 August, 2023, under the theme ‘Remembering Our National Heroes-Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo/ Ilizwe lakhiwa ngabanikazi bayo.’
