CCC fails to penetrate rural areas

Attempts by the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) to penetrate the rural constituencies have hit a hard rock after that party failed to raise funds for their campaign elections.

A source who spoke to this publication revealed that a CCC affiliate, Citizens Business Network Forum (CBNF) has failed to raise enough funds to finance that party’s campaign activities.

According to the source, a South Africa-based CCC interim captain of industry, Reverend Munashe Munashe revealed that CBNF had printed 100 000 units of fliers and posters for the presidential campaign.

“The situation in CCC is dire. Their funders have refused to invest their money in a sinking hole, following CCC leader, Nelson Chamisa’s financial untrustworthiness. As a result, the CCC has found itself financially strapped and incapacitated to handle the forthcoming election against ZANU PF.

“This has forced CCC to prioritise its urban areas strongholds where they think they can garner more votes against ZANU PF.    During a CCC meeting to distribute the fliers, Reverend Munashe Munashe, revealed that only a 100 000 fliers and banners were printed for the urban voters. 50 000 for Harare another 50 000 for Bulawayo which they believe to be that party`s strongholds,” said the source.

The source indicated that CCC was prioritizing fliers for the presidential campaign and that Harare and Bulawayo were selected because that party believed their vote would only come from these two cities.

Political analysts argue that diverting campaign materials to Harare and Bulawayo confirms the incapacitation of CBNF to mobilize resources for CCC rural campaigns. They further stated that the development further exposed CCC`s continued failure to penetrate ZANU PF`s strongholds, adding that the material was likely to be flooded in urban areas only, given that the majority of that party`s urban constituency candidates are also individually resourced to fund own campaigns as compared to their rural counterparts.

The CCC leadership is on record for embezzling party funds and this has resulted in donor fatigue.
