Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) members have gone on a rampage, defacing Zanu PF campaign posters across the country.
Speaking to this publication, one Chicken Inn employee said he witnessed first-hand the defacing of President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s poster that was put up on a pole in front of a Chegutu Chicken Inn outlet.
"I witnessed a member of the CCC who is also an employee at the Chegutu Chicken Inn, Daniel Elton Amula stripping down President Mnangagwa’s election poster.
“He was backed by other Chicken Inn employees at the behest of their manager, Mgcini Sibanda. They tore up the posters until someone told them a video of their action was being recorded. That is when they shied away," said the eyewitness, who refused to be identified for fear of victimisation.
Martin Makoni, who is a shop owner within the vicinity of the occurrence, confirmed that he witnessed a well-known Zanu PF youth, Ngonidzaishe Chikandika being assaulted by Chicken Inn employees under the guidance of their branch manager.
"Chikandika was busy pasting President Mnangagwa’s posters on lamp posts when suddenly an employee at Chicken Inn started defacing them. When he inquired why the posters were being removed, a mob suddenly appeared from chicken in and they pulled him into the shop, where they assaulted him.
"He sustained head and rib injuries. I personally advised him to take the matter to the police and file a charge," said Makoni.
In a related case, three unidentified CCC activists again defaced a Zanu PF campaign poster that was displayed at David Whitehead Textiles perimeter wall in Kadoma CBD and replaced it with their party posters. Chegutu West constituency candidate for Zanu PF reported the incident to ZRP Kadoma and no arrests have been made so far.
