Mashonaland Central Province is prepared to host President Emmerson Mnangagwa's Star Rally at Centenary Country Club this coming Saturday, in what promises to be a spectacular gathering of party supporters.
Mashonaland Central Provincial Political Commissar, Cde Paul Kamukombe, in an interview yesterday, stated that they were targeting over 130,000 people to attend the rally. He said, "Mashonaland Central is the home of ZANU PF, and our members are eager to interact with their President. We are looking forward to a historic turnout."
Mashonaland Central has traditionally been a stronghold for ZANU PF, a factor that the party plans to capitalize on in the upcoming elections.
Last Monday, ZANU PF Mashonaland Central Provincial Chairperson, Cde Kazembe Kazembe, confidently declared to Vice President Chiwenga at Chiunye Primary School that all the 18 seats in the province would go to ZANU PF.
Kazembe asserted, "We are the home of ZANU PF. No other political party will win in Mashonaland Central Province. Our strength and unity will ensure our victory in the upcoming elections."
Political commentator, Gibson Dakarai said that these confident statements reflected the ZANU PF's aggressive campaign to maintain its stronghold in the province.
“The Party continues with its voter mobilisation efforts, organising rallies, and implementing grassroots strategies. Notably, its recent rally in Masvingo recorded a staggering attendance of 124,000 people, an indication of the party's strong support base,” said Dakarai.
In preparation for the upcoming rally, various logistical arrangements are being put in place to ensure a successful event. Security measures, traffic management plans, and emergency medical services have all been ramped up to accommodate the expected large turnout.
The rally, part of the ZANU PF's broader campaign strategy, will allow President Mnangagwa to interact with his constituents, understand their concerns, and outline the party's future plans. His address is expected to focus on key issues, such as economic development, healthcare, and education, with an emphasis on rural development in Mashonaland Central.
Meanwhile, the upcoming Star Rally in Mashonaland Central Province is seen as a significant step in ZANU PF's election campaign. The event's success could serve as a clear indicator of the party's continued stronghold in the province and its momentum heading into the upcoming elections.
