The political life of Dr Thokozani Khupe within Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) is hanging by a thread following reports that she is a double agent deployed by the Central Intelligence Organisation (CIO) to destroy that party from within.

An impeccable source who spoke to this publication said that CCC interim co-deputy president Lynnette Karenyi Kore recently complained that Khupe was on CIOs payroll with a clear mandate to cause mayhem within that party ahead of the 2023 plebiscite.

“Kore recently warned Chamisa that he should not be too cosy with Khupe as she was a contact for the CIO. Kore told Chamisa that Khupe’s romance with CCC was not genuine as she was mandated by her handlers to cause the crumbling of the party before the 2023 elections,” said the source.

According to the source, Kore revealed to Chamisa that besides Khupe being an agent for the CIO, she was also in constant touch with exiled G40 kingpin Jonathan Moyo whom she contracted to push the congress narrative.

“It was reported to Chamisa that Khupe was in constant touch with Moyo. Moyo. The narrative that Prof Moyo is running with is sponsored by Khupe who hopes that the congress might give her an opportunity to ascend to vice presidency,” added the source.

The same source added that already there was mistrust between Chamisa and Khupe and the former was reportedly regretting accommodating her within CCC.

According to the source, Chamisa was now in a dilemma on how to deal with Khupe considering that she was instrumental in mobilising people from the Matebeleland Region to vote for Chamisa and CCC in the 2023 elections.

Meanwhile, Kore is reportedly feeling threatened by Khupe and she was accused of plotting for the ouster of the former Morgan Tsvangirai’s deputy from CCC. Kore is believed to have successfully convinced Chamisa that Khupe was a traitor who should not be accommodated in that party.
