We will not vote for Biti-Harare East residents

Harare East residents have resolved not to cast their votes for the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) candidate, Tendai Biti accusing him of failing to bring meaningful development during his tenure as legislator for that area.

One Highlands resident, who identified herself as Christine, told this publication that Biti was bad news for the people of Harare East as he was more into confrontational politics than development.

“My name is Christine. I stay in Highlands and I am a member of the business community. It’s known that the community in Highlands and Chisipite voted for Tendai Biti last time. However, he has not done a single project in Harare East constituency. We requested for the roads to be repaired but nothing is being done. We only see his face when he is campaigning. This time we are now wiser, we will not give our votes to a person who doesn’t care for the wellbeing of the constituency,” said Christine.

Christine added that on 26 March 2022, she will vote for the ZANU PF’s candidate, Mavis Gumbo, as she was switched on and hands on.

“Now we see this girl, Mavis Gumbo doing several projects. We are seeing the housing and infrastructure projects she is doing. We are seeing women and youths being trained in self-help projects and even roads are being repaired, thanks to Mavis. This Mavis seems good and definitely she has my vote. This time I am not voting for Biti, I am voting for Mavis as she is hands on and switched on,” added Christine.

Another resident who chose to be referred to as Mr Chiradza said that the constituency now need a new broom and that broom was Gumbo.

“We gave Biti a chance but he proved to us that he has no plan to develop the constituency. Biti is always busy confronting the Government. His time has expired and we are ready to give Gumbo a chance to see how she can assist in developing our area,” said Mr Chiradza.

In 16 days’ time, the people of Harare East will go to the polls to elect the legislator for that area. Biti, Gumbo, MDC T’s Christopher Mbanga and LEAD’s Precious Musarurwa are vying for the seat.
