Politburo Member and Harare Metropolitan Province Minister of State and Devolution Cde Oliver Chidawu has urged people to support and vote for the ruling party in the coming by-elections.
Speaking at the ZANU PF Harare Province by-election launch in St Marys Chitungwiza on Saturday, minister Chidawu said party members should mobilise and show their enthusiasm and love for the party.
Present at the event were Politburo member and Deputy National Political Commissar Cde Omega Hungwe, Acting Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs Cde Tendai Chirau, ZANU PF Harare Provincial Chairman Cde Goodwills Masimirembwa and the Harare Provincial Leadership.
Cde Chidawu encouraged ZANU PF supporters to be disciplined honest and united for the good of the party.
"Our rivals are MDC-Alliance and the Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), so on 26 March 2022 let us vote for ZANU PF, no matter who the candidate is. The opposition has failed to deliver as such let us vote them out.
"President Mnangagwa expects us to win. For us to win Harare back, we should unite because united we will be strong. We want discipline in the Party. Let us ensure that our cell registers are up to date," Cde Chidawu said.
Speaking at the same event Cde Omega Hungwe said that the country’s economy is improving, giving credit to President Emmerson Mnangagwa and the New Dispensation. She also reiterated Cde Chidawu’s sentiments that people should vote for ZANU PF no matter who the candidate is because they will be representing ZANU PF. Cde Hungwe further encouraged unity and called for Party members to mobilise in order to increase the number of votes.
Through the first Proclamation of 2022 under Statutory Instrument 2 of 2022, The President of Zimbabwe Cde E.D Mnangagwa set 26 March 2022 as the date for holding by-elections, filling in vacant Parliamentary and council seats.
