Assertions that self-exiled G40 kingpin and former Cabinet minister, Saviour Kasukuwere, was plotting a political comeback to contest in the forthcoming presidential elections slatted for 2023 were watered down by former Chivi South legislator, Killer Zivhu, who revealed that the former will rally behind ZANU PF during the 2023 plebiscite.

Kasukuwere, Zivhu and Norton Independent legislator Temba Mliswa recently met at an undisclosed place and details of that meeting was revealed by Zivhu who said that the trio will support President Mnangagwa’s candidature in 2023.

“We have resolved to remain ZANU PF members no matter what may come. We have also agreed to support President ED (Mnangagwa) during 2023 elections. Kudzoswa kana kusadzoswa mumusangano will not stop us to support ED (President Mnangagwa) in 2023,” said Zivhu.

Zivhu’s tweet allegedly shattered the Nelson Chamisa-led MDC Alliance which was plotting to use the trio’s political capital to mobilise voters for the opposition party. A source who spoke to this publication said Zivhu’s revelation has made the MDC Alliance to discard plans of engaging the trio to campaign for them in 2023.

“The MDC Alliance had hoped to approach Zivhu, Mliswa and Kasukuwere to convince them to rally behind Chamisa in 2023.The party wanted to use the trio’s political capital to lure potential voters ahead of the 2023 elections. However, the party has been forced to go back to the drawing board after realising that the trio still has ZANU PF blood in them,” said the source.

Kasukuwere, Zivhu and Mliswa were expelled from ZANU PF at different intervals for committing various offenses that brought the name of the Party in disrepute. Kasukuwere is in self-exile in South Africa  and is facing some criminal charges before the courts.
