Self-exiled G40 kingpin, Jonathan Moyo, has castigated the MDC Alliance labelling it a party with no institutional capacity and in desperate need of administrative support.
Writing on his Twitter handle yesterday, Moyo said that it was shocking that a party with lawyers among its top leadership could prioritise the purchase of Nelson Chamisa’s luxurious vehicle when they have no party offices.
“On the MDC Alliance’s priorities, its common cause that the party is in dire straits. (They have) no office, no budget, no party workers, no cars with party logos out there, no visible nationwide party activity and therefore basically no institutional capacity and administrative support,” said Prof Moyo.
Prof Moyo added that prioritising the purchase of a VIP bulletproof car for Chamisa within the calendar cycle of a general election was a case of misplaced priorities, which is going to put off potential donors.
Professor Moyo said that the violent and illogical way the MDC Alliance reacted to his questions about the rationality of buying Chamisa a luxurious vehicle showed that immaturity, irrationality and intolerance now ruled the party.
Moyo further said that he was going to cut ties with the opposition movement and has since withdrawn his previous offer to train MDC Alliance polling agents ahead of the 2023 plebiscite. Moyo said that he withdrew the offer after the MDC Alliance leadership failed to state its position following allegations that the offer had divided the opposition.
“By way of information, on 11 October 2021, I wrote to Charlton Hwende (MDC Alliance Secretary General) withdrawing my offer to support Tsholotsho MDC Alliance polling agents and to train 44 thousand polling agents for 2023. And on 26 November 2021, I wrote to Nelson Chamisa to inform him I am not doing partisan politics for 2023 elections,” said Prof Moyo.
In 2018 elections, Moyo supported the MDC Alliance, but the relations have soured in recent weeks with MDC Alliance members attacking Moyo labelling him a sell-out.
