In a bid to fully implement devolution across the country, President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday elevated all of the country’s 10 Provincial Development Coordinators (PDCs) to the position of Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution.
In a statement yesterday, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet, Dr Misheck Sibanda said that the President had approved the promotion of the PDCs in view of the critical role they play in the development of provinces.
“The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet is pleased to announce that His Excellency the President, in view of the enhanced and critical role of the Provincial Development Coordinators in the planning and implementation of Provincial and Devolution programmes, has approved the elevation of the ten Provincial Development Coordinators across all provinces in Zimbabwe to the rank of Secretary for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, in the Office of the President and Cabinet under the Ministers of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution,” said Dr Sibanda.
The ten who were elevated are Tafadzwa Muguti (Harare Metropolitan Province), Paul Nyoni (Bulawayo Metropolitan Province), Abiot Maronge (Midlands Province), Edgars Seenza (Manicaland Province) and Timothy Maregere (Mashonaland Central Province).
The others are Tavabarira Kutamahufa (Mashonaland East Province), Josphat Jaji (Mashonaland West Province), Jefter Sakupwanya (Masvingo Province), Sithandiwe Ncube (Matebeleland North Province) and Latiso Dhlamini (Matebeleland South Province).
Meanwhile, Dr Sibanda also announced in a statement yesterday that President Mnangagwa had approved the promotion of Major General Grey Mashava to the post of Chief of Staff and Head of Office in Honourable Vice President Chiwenga’s office.
“The Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet is pleased to announce that His Excellency the President has approved the promotion of Major General Mashava to the post of Chief of Staff and Head of Office in Honourable Vice President Gen (Rtd) CDGN Chiwenga’s office,” said Dr Sibanda.
Major General Mashava is a holder of Bachelor of Law Degree and Master’s Degree in International Relations from the University of Zimbabwe. He previously served and distinguished himself in various capacities in the Zimbabwe Defence Forces.
