Dethroned Chief Felix Nhlanhlayamangwe Ndiweni has been slammed by Zimbabweans for having a colonial mind-set after he recently flew to the UK to petition that government to force Zimbabwe’s authorities to allow diaspora vote in the next coming polls.

Ndiweni who has been a government critique and an opposition activist, was recently at UK’s number 10 Downing Street, the official residence and the office of the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, purportedly to deliver a petition to the UK government.

However, Zimbabweans swarmed various social media sites and mocked Ndiweni for thinking that Britain has jurisdiction and power to control internal affairs of Zimbabwe.

One netizen, Nobleman Runyanga even described Ndiweni as a shameless madman.

“Nhlanhlayamangwe, you are no one’s chief. The people you were supposed to lead disowned you. Only political madmen like those who inhabit 10 Downing Street can accommodate a fellow political madman who is seeking relevance after being rejected by his own people,” said Runyanga.

Another netizen, Gift Chimuko, said that Ndiweni was not worth to be a chief as he still has colonial mentality.

“A person like Ndiweni who rushes to our former colonisers to complain about our internal issues does not deserve to be a chief in this country. Ndiweni is a sell out and a puppet of the west and he should have been dethroned a long time ago. The British has no say on who should vote or not vote in our country,” said Chimuko.

Bryan Nana said that if Ndiweni had issues with the local electoral processes, he should have engaged the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC), SADC or even the African Union (AU) before rushing to Britain.

“If Ndiweni had issues with the local electoral processes, he should have engaged ZEC, SADC or even AU before rushing to Britain. Our challenges are not solved by Britain. By rushing to petition Britain to force our government to allow diaspora vote, Ndiweni has shown that he is not well versed with local electoral processes. Ndiweni should know that Zimbabwe is not a province of Britain and is a sovereign country that got its independence some over 40 years ago,” added Nana.

Ndiweni was dethroned last year as chief of Ndiweni in Umguza District ,Matebeleland North Province, following recommendations  by that province’s Chief’s Provincial Council. Since then, Ndiweni has been attacking the government and portraying it badly to the outside world.
