The Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Honourable Ambassador Fredrick Shava will attend the eighth ministerial conference of the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC) in Dakar, Senegal from November 29 to 30 this year.
The conference that will be held under the theme, “Deepening the Sino-African Partnership and Promoting Sustainable Development to build China-Africa Community with a shared future in the new era”, will evaluate the implementation of the follow up actions of the 2018 Beijing Summit and the situation of China –Africa solidarity against Covid 19 and also plan the direction of China-Africa relations in the next three years.
According to the Ministry’s spokesperson Livit Mugejo, FOCAC has provided a platform for collective consultations and cooperation between China and Africa.
“FOCAC has provided a platform for collective consultations and cooperation between China and Africa since its inception in 2006. It promotes dialogue between Africa and China that facilitate the development of a common political and economic agenda intended to advance constructive South-South cooperation,” said Mugejo.
Meanwhile, on 25 November 2021, Minister Shava attended the Extraordinary meeting of the Ministerial Committee of the Organ Troika (South Africa, Botswana and Namibia).The meeting considered, among others, the progress made by the SADC mission in Mozambique as well as Draft framework for supporting that country in addressing terrorism.
Zimbabwe’s participation at that meeting helped to keep the country informed on what was happening in its neighbouring country.
