…as Chamisa's councillors fail in their mandate
Scores of liberal MDC Alliance supporters hailed the immortalisation of Zimbabwe’s liberation war heroine Mbuya Nehanda, saying that the statue and efforts by Jacob Ngarivhume to clean the city that has been neglected by the MDC Alliance-led city fathers will bring the shine to the Sunshine City.
Speaking to this publication on the side-lines of the unveiling of Mbuya Nehanda statue on Africa Day, one MDC Alliance supporter who owns a shop in town was impressed by the statue opining that it has potential to attract both domestic and foreign tourists and boost surrounding business.
“I must say that I’m happy about today’s event, where we are able to tell our own history ourselves, because of this my business will increase as I am expectant of people from all over the world to come and view this statue at the same time visit our shops.
“However the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa and his councillors have failed in their mandate to keep this City clean. I am even embarrassed to tell people l voted for these incompetent people into office. The Leader of Transform Zimbabwe has been doing a wonderful job at clearing dirty in the city and surrounding areas,” said the MDC Alliance member who preferred anonymity.
Some of the MDC Alliance members who were present during the interview, interjected saying Chamisa is immature and playing childish politics, which has led him to tag behind pacesetters such as Jacob Ngarivume.
“(Ngarivhume ngaatore chimuti pana 2023 cheMDC Alliance, Chamisa azvitadza zvepolitics. Zvinhu hazvidi jecha pese pese, pamwe itawo zvinowonekwa kwete kungoshora), “Ngarivhume should take the baton come 2023, as the leader of the MDC Alliance, Chamisa has failed in politics. Not everything is achieved by pouring sand in progress, Chamisa should show what he has done for the people of Zimbabwe instead of constantly blaming for his mistakes,” said someone from the nearby crowd.
Taonezvi Musariri, a member of the MDC Alliance youth league, complained about his leader, Nelson Chamisa who has failed to rein in his corrupt councillors who have failed the City of Harare. He said Chamisa has been focusing on manipulating youths, demanding that they get arrested in order to prop up the waning party.
“Jacob Ngarivhume showed me a different side to politics when he asked us to help him clean up the city, while we were helping him he was telling us to stay out of trouble and jail by engaging in useful programs such as cleaning our vicinities. Chamisa instead has insisted on us practicing student activism. Some of my friends in the youth league now have jail records because of his mentorship,” Musariri said.
Meanwhile, Chamisa is fast losing support as his supporters are waking up to his glaring faults exposing his weak leadership. The MDC Alliance is said to be bankrupt as Chamisa and his lieutenants have a habit of gobbling party funds at the expense of party activities. It was rather embarrassing that the MDC Alliance had to hold a press conference at MDC Alliance vice president Tendai Biti’s Law Chambers on Wednesday, this week because they cannot afford to book a venue, yet their party supporters in the diaspora have been sending money which can't be accounted for.
