MDC Alliance National Spokesperson, Fadzayi Mahere’s recent attacks on Government agricultural programs are myopic and expose the opposition party for lack of ideological orientation.
Mahere has on several occasions taken to twitter to denounce noble Government agricultural reforms such as Smart Agriculture, Zunde raMambo and Pfumvudza as sheer waste of taxpayers’ money.
“So many farming schemes, so little productivity. Smart agriculture, pfumvudza, zunde ramambo. We don’t want dubious schemes. We want results…all they can do is name adventures and launch hot air,” she tweeted.
Contrary to MDC Alliance’s bigotry, local farmers scattered across the country have hailed Government’s farming programs such as Pfumvudza.
Investigations conducted by the Harare Post, established that over 90 percent of rural farmers implementing Pfumvudza have already prepared their land pieces and received inputs including seed and fertilizer.
However, the Minister of Lands, Agriculture and Rural Resettlement, Dr Anxious Masuka while handing over Zunde raMambo/Isiphala seNkosi farming inputs to Chief Mapanzure in Zvishavane, said Government was committed to supporting small scale holder farmers to increase food productivity.
“Government will not stop empowering the Chiefs for agriculture development,” he said.
The Meteorological Services Department has predicted that the country is set to receive normal to above normal rainfall for the 2020/21 agricultural season.
This is expected to be a boast to the country which has for the past three years experienced persistent droughts.
The new dispensation has implemented smart agriculture methods, Zunde raMambo/Isiphala seNkosi and Pfumvudza which have received overwhelming support from local farmers to the dismay of MDC Alliance who would rather have Government initiatives fail in line of their regime change agenda.
The opposition continues to wish for continued suffering among the ordinary citizens, in order to fuel an eventual uprising against the ZANU PF Government for a possible take-over by the Nelson Chamisa led MDC Alliance.
