Citizens Manifesto Director, John Briggs Bomba is in a funds embezzlement storm for embezzling about USD33 000 he received from the US Embassy in Harare.
The funds were meant for nefarious operations to neutralize the anti-sanctions campaign before, during and after the regional anti-sanctions day on, 25 October 2020.
A source told the Harare Post that the US Embassy in Harare failed to make a police report on the matter for the matter to remain private.
“John Briggs Bomba, embezzled USD$33 000 from the US Embassy in Harare that was aimed at countering the anti-sanctions campaign. The US Embassy has since asked him to return the money instead of reporting him to the police in fear of publicizing the matter,” said the source.
In 2018 The United States (US) confirmed that the quasi-political civil society organisations it had been funding to push the regime change agenda in Zimbabwe squandered funds meant for the “project”. It temporarily suspended funding them and reported the matter to USAID Office of the Inspector General (OIG). The OIG is an arm responsible for investigating the abuse of USAID programmes.
Organisations that were fingered then in the funds embezzlement saga included Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights), Election Resource Centre (ERC) and Counseling Services Unit (CSU).
“We can confirm allegations of misuse of US funding by local Zimbabwean partners, and we referred the allegations to the USAID Office of the Inspector General (OIG),” the US Embassy said then.
The US Embassy in Harare is acting as a big brother to Zimbabwe and SADC sabotaging efforts on the call for the unconditional removal of illegal sanctions by the West. SADC set aside, 25 October 2020 of each year as a day to push for the unconditional removal of illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe by the Western countries.
Several African leaders who include, President Cyril Ramaphosa (South Africa), Paul Kagame (Rwanda) and John Magufuli (Tanzania) have since unequivocally called for the lifting of the illegal sanctions imposed on Zimbabwe.
