Ideological differences have triggered a nasty fallout between former G40 kingpins, Saviour Kasukuwere and Jonathan Moyo, who spent the better part of yesterday exchanging harsh words on social media.
The former Cabinet ministers, who formed the core of the vanquished G40 faction, yesterday took to social microblogging site Twitter attacking each other over ideological and political differences.
The argument started when Kasukuwere falsely insinuated that the expulsion of G40 elements from ZANU PF in 2017 was unconstitutional and undemocratic.
“We have made the point that it’s a disputed political process. Constitutionalism must be restored in the party, Government and country,” tweeted Kasukuwere.
Moyo immediately responded to Kasukuwere’s tweet saying that he had a totally different political view to that of Kasukuwere.
“I’m not sure who “we” is; but I for one don’t share the view that constitutionalism must be restored in Zanu PF,” responded Moyo.
Kasukuwere later responded that the “we” in his tweet was not inclusive of Moyo, an indication that the political friendship that once existed between the two no longer exists.
Kasukuwere went further to post a tweet insinuating that Moyo was a political flip flopper who should not be taken seriously.
“I am not a political flip flopper and will stick to my principles. Keep your narcissism to yourself. There is no CIC (Commander in Chief) in politics. Puma!” tweeted Kasukuwere.
Moyo in his response seemed not to have denied the accusation that he was a political flip flopper, but made a veiled attack on Kasukuwere whom he described as a merchant of blood, who only knows the politics of violence.
Analyst Tapiwa Chabayanzara said the public spat between Kasukuwere and Moyo is an indication that the G40 empire is crumpling.
“The public clash between Moyo and Kasukuwere is an indication that the G40 empire is crumpling. It’s now clear that the two were never friends, but only shared the same ambitions of being at the helm of ZANU PF,” said Chabayanzara.
Moyo and Kasukuwere were once close political buddies, however the recent public spat between the two is being interpreted by many that all is not well in the beleaguered G40 camp.
