Following a barrage of attacks on the Zimbabwean Government by hostile internal and external actors, the Minister of State Security, Owen Ncube has come out giving a stern warning to those rogue elements, that Government state security arms will ensure peace prevails, the Harare Post can reveal.
Speaking through a press statement in Harare, Minister Ncube said “Zimbabwe’s security and stability is currently under siege from a number of threats being fomented by internal and external actors.
“We are watching attempts to drive Zimbabwe into chaos. Some rogue elements among us, are conniving with some hostile western Governments to smuggle guns and set up so-called Democratic Resistance Committees that are, for all intent and purposes, violent militia groups.”
Minister Ncube further, highlighted that the regime change proponents are working tirelessly to destabilise the country to an extent of spreading misinformation of a rift between President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Vice President Constantino Chiwenga.
“They have gone to an extent of lying that there is a fall out between His Excellency, President Mnangagwa and VP Chiwenga. They have also attempted to cause Western countries, the SADC and Churches to turn against Government by making false allegations of human rights abuses.
“The negative forces have even gone to the extent of stage managing abductions and propagating lies on social media.
Adding that, “Government is aware of attempts by self-exiled G40 elements, such as Professor Jonathan Moyo, to destabilise the Security Services through making false allegations about Security Officers who are unwavering in their determination to defend national sovereignty
“As State security arms of Government, we would like to assure citizens that we are watching the environment very closely and we shall fulfil our mandate of ensuring peace, stability and development in Zimbabwe.
In recent weeks the country has had an influx of the spreading of false information especially on abductions. A documentary was recently released on social media proving without a doubt that MDC A Member of Parliament Joanna Mamombe, Cecilia Chimbiri and Netsai Marova had followed the same script that Doctor Peter Mogombei acted out when he faked his own abduction. Another fake abduction of a University student Tawanda Muchehiwa was used to draw the eerie of SADC, AU and the UNGA gatherings of heads of state, with an attempt to put Zimbabwe on the Agenda of these meetings.
