President Emerson Mnangagwa has repledged his commitment to reforms as he told thousands of delegates attending the sixth African Regional Forum on Sustainable Development (ARFSD) that his government will push for the implementation of reforms even though there is no external financial support to assist the country on its journey to reforms.

The President said this yesterday in Victoria Falls while officially opening the forum on Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

His Excellency said, sustainable development in Africa and Zimbabwe in particular, is only possible if political, economic and legislative reforms are implemented.

“Sustainable development in Africa cannot be achieved without comprehensive socio-economic development. In the case of Zimbabwe, we remain committed to fully implement the political, economic and legislative reforms”

President Mnangagwa said Zimbabwe is in the process of implementing necessary reforms even though there is no financial support from other international institutions to support the cause.

"As one of our tools of engagement and re-engagement strategy, we are determined to see through the IMF Staff Monitored Programme which supports our Reform Agenda as well as the achievement of associated reform targets. In doing this, it should be understood that we are undertaking the reforms without the requisite external financial support as is the norm," said the President.

To date, the New Dispensation has implemented a lot of positive political, economic and social reforms that thrive to uplift the lives of Zimbabweans.
