The United Kingdom (UK) ambassador to Zimbabwe, Melanie Robinson paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State for Provincial Affairs for Mashonaland Central, Monica Mavhunga after touring the province and discussed a wide range of issues including measures to ensure young girls stay in school.

Unpacking the event, Ambassador Robinson posted on her Twitter handle, “Great trip to Mashonaland Central yesterday and met Minister Monica Mavhunga in Bindura.

“We talked about challenges in the province, from the economic crisis, climate change to artisanal mining and supporting girls to stay in school. Pressed on making sure food aid reaches those who need it most.” She said.

Ambassador Robinson also revealed that during her tour she met with farmers who have ventured into bio fortified crops and encouraged other farmers to venture into it as the crops grow well in drought prone areas hence ensuring food security.

“Amazing to meet these farming ambassadors growing delicious bio fortified crops. These crops are more nutritious for their children. They grow well in drought years and are affordable. It would be great to see every farmer growing them. Proud of DFID’s support through Harvest Plus Zimbabwe.” She tweeted.

The UK Ambassador to Zimbabwe’s visit to Mashonaland Central shows a commitment to the success of Zimbabwe and Government, a huge blow to the MDC which is relentless in its pursuit to drive a wedge between the UK and ZANU PF Government.
