A Matabeleland based opposition political party ZAPU, has emotionally discredited sentiments by MDC co-vice leader, Tendai Biti that Minister of Finance and Economic Development, Professor Mthuli Ncube needed ‘an examination of his head’ for maintaining that civil servants will get their 13th cheque.
Biti had commented in an interview with the Newsday that, “Mthuli Ncube is a madman, he needs a mental examination. Giving civil servants bonuses will not alleviate their suffering.”
Speaking to this publication, ZAPU member Joshua Mkwananzi expressed that Biti’s sentiments were not worthy to discuss because they were driven by tribal motives and do not solve any of the problems being faced by the civil servants.
“He is just a tribal person. His party MDC claims popularity yet it is also clueless about the solutions to our problems.
“Biti is an emotional leader and politics does not need emotions. l wonder how he handles his family affairs. He is just implicating Mthuli simply because he is Ndebele. MDC proved to be having its own grand plan to frustrate the Ndebele people even if we look at the tribal imbalances in its structures.
“How can Bulawayo province be dominated by the Shona yet it is a hub for Ndebele people. This is not a party but a bunch of tribal people,” lamented Mkwananzi.
Another ZAPU member, Roselyn Nkiwane, expressed to this publication that, Biti’s remarks cannot be expected from a leader like him.
“He is a leader yet he utters such remarks. He should be reminded that Mthuli is trying hard to cushion the civil servants and it is their right to get their 13th cheque. I still don’t know where Biti’s problem is?” said Nkiwane.
