Opposition supporters can now brace for the worst as things fall apart at the MDC Alliance.

Yesterday, MDC-T National Chairperson, Morgen Komichi and National Youth Assembly leader, Happymore Chidziva confirmed that all is not well in the electoral pact as that party depicts no remorse in elbowing out other Alliance partners.

With double nominations and disregard for the Alliance agreement tearing apart the electoral pact, Komichi on the other hand has no kind words for the disgruntled partners saying “we cannot afford to field weaker candidates for the sake of observing coalition terms.” He likened the MDC-T to a football team manager saying if it sees it fit, it can substitute anyone at any given time.

In a move that is likely to inflame the situation, Chidziva weighed in saying the thrust of the Alliance is premised on the presidency and not the local government and parliamentary seats.

People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader, Tendai Biti, MDC Alliance Spokesperson and MDC-N leader, Professor Welshman Ncube and MDC-T Women Assembly leader, Lynette Karenyi-Kore, have been at the centre of the seats allocations storm. To depict that all is not well in the MDC Alliance, the trio has been conspicuous by their absence at the MDC Alliance rallies held in Binga, Hwange and Victoria Falls over the weekend.

A highly placed source at MDC Alliance confided in Harare Post that the MDC-T leadership is geared to go it alone in the forthcoming elections should other partners throw in the towel. The official indicated that the seat allocations had given the pact’s leadership enough headaches and was hampering its campaign programmes.

To show that the Alliance was dropping out chuff from its rank and file, Chamisa has again snubbed former President, Robert Mugabe and his wife, Grace Mugabe by refusing to meet the National Patriotic Front (NPF) funders citing a busy schedule.
