…as he hands over medical equipment to Natpharm
President Emmerson Mnangagwa yesterday handed over a consignment of medical equipment and surgical sundries sourced from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in Harare today.
The President said the move was in fulfilment of his electoral promises of improving the well-being of the people.
Addressing delegates at Natpharm, President Mnangagwa said, “Today we gather for this noble event a year after our great country went to the polls to choose its new leadership. As the Presidential candidate then, I made promises and pledged to make the well-being and improved quality of life of our people among the core issues that would be at the centre of my administration.”
He highlighted that the event clearly shows how committed he is to the health sector.
“This event is yet another testimony of my administration’s unwavering commitment to fulfil those promises in particular relating to health which I articulated then. The work of securing and improving the well-being of our people has begun and will not stop.
“Under the Second Republic, we shall continue to incrementally accomplish that which we set out to do. Constantly setting out our priorities and meeting our targets to help people solve their problems and enjoy a better quality of life,” said President Mnangagwa.
He said that health was a pre-requisite for promoting well rounded personal development and the socio-economic development. He said without health, the country’s vision to be an upper middle income economy would not be achievable. He further said that his Government would continue to roll out the country’s health care reform programmes that guarantee people’s health.
