The new Parliament Building project in Mt Hampden is progressing well, The Harare Post has learnt.

Posting on its Twitter page, the Ministry of Information said, “Currently the most enabling works are underway with water and electricity supplies now on site.

“Work on the retaining walls has also begun with the wall set to cut 150 metres across the mountain.

“Progress on the ground also indicated that the foundation has begun and is estimated to be complete in three months’ time, read the post.

Refuting negative sentiments from some social media trolls that government was directing money to less critical issues while ignoring the essentials such as hospitals and medicines, Tafadzwa Masango said, “It’s being funded through a grant from the Chinese government.  Saka hapana mari yenyika irikushanda apa, in fact the project is creating employment for the locals who are getting paid by the Chinese government to work in this project.  Zimwe dai muchitanga mabvunza masaiti mataura zvisina basa.”

On completion the building will be worth US$60 million and is expected to be completed by 2020.
