The Zimbabwe Revenue Authority has appointed a new Acting Commissioner-General interms of Section 17 (4) (b) of the Public Entities Corporate Governance Act (Chapter 10:31).
“I announce the appointment of Board Member Dr Moris B Mpofu, as Acting Commissioner General with effect from 1 January 2022 until 30 April 2022 with the hope that within that time the processes of recruiting a substantive Commissioner General would have been finalized,” said ZIMRA Board Vice Chairperson Mrs Josephine Matambo.
The appointment of Dr Mpofu follows the early retirement of the current Acting Commisioner-General. Speaking through a press statement Mrs Matambo expressed remorse at the early retirement by Mr Rameck Masaire.
“The Board with sincere regret announces the early retirement of Mr Masaire who was the Acting Commissioner-General of ZIMRA. The retirement is with effect from 1 February 2022. He tendered the early retirement on 30 December 2021,” said Matambo.
Praising Masaire for his dedication to work and excellent leadership skills that he exhibited during his tenure at ZIMRA, Matambo said, “With his vast tax knowledge and experience, he has provided valuable leadership to the organization and the team that he has been working with over the years. A number of notable achievement have been recorded during his time with ZIMRA, which will remain an invaluable legacy for the organization and the nation.”
Meanwhile ZIMRA has managed to surpass its target for the year 2021 notwithstanding interruptions caused by Covid19 induced lockdowns.
