Government is focused on improving the fortunes of this country and, thus, it is continuing to put in place economic policies that will enable economic growth, the President has said.

Speaking during the tour of Tregers Group of Companies yesterday, President Mnangagwa announced that his Government had availed incentives for the promotion of the manufacturing industry.

“Allow me to take this oppprtunity to commend the manufacturing sector for its resilience and the strides made towards turning around the economy in line with my Government’s private sector led economic development. I exhort industry to continuously adapt through innovative and responsive strategies for increased production, productivity and profitability within the sector.

“On its part, my Government continues to put in place responsive policies and key economic enablers for sustainable economic growth,” said the President.

The President added that his Government had availed export and investment incentives for the promotion of a stronger manufacturing ecosystem.

He challenged the economic sector to take advantage of the various policy pronouncements made by the Government to improve their operations.

President Mnangagwa commended Tregers for its participation in the economy through recycling scrap plastics into usable products and the manufacturing of solar geysers.

The President challenged the industry to create synergies with universities’ innovation hubs in order to produce quality products.

“In line with our thrust to produce quality goods for both the local and export markets, my Government is putting in place a comprehensive framework for quality standards. I call upon industry to increase collaboration, cooperation and partnerships with innovation hubs and industrial parks housed under our Universities and institutions of higher learning,” added the President.

President Mnangagwa said the manufacturing sector should harness the achievements of the engagement and reengagement policy spearheaded by Government to recapitalise, retool and modernise their entities.

The President added that corruption had no place in the country and urged all citizens to shun corruption.

The Head of State further said the responsibility of building a prosperous, united and peaceful Zimbabwe lied on all Zimbabweans.
