Speaking at a groundbreaking ceremony for the Mabvuku Ethanol Plant, President Emmerson Mnangagwa praised the National Oil Infrasructure Company (NOIC) for its strategic investment in the plant as it catalyzes the growth of the energy sector
“The plant, a strategic investment by the National Oil Infrastructure Company (NOIC), is a beacon of the country's commitment to clean fuel and sustainable energy, aligning with Sustainable Development Goal 7 (SDG 7,” said the President.
President Mnangagwa further emphasised that in addition to driving economic growth, the Mabvuku Ethanol Plant is a significant contributor to employment.
“The facility has created over 200 jobs, further fostering skill transfer, we are proud to be producing ethanol ourselves. As production increases, more storage facilities will be established," he said
President Mnangagwa also praised NOIC for their continuous dedication to improving fuel distribution and handling of infrastructure.
"This facility stands as a strategic response towards accelerating the implementation of our policy on clean fuel.
“With a rising fuel demand now exceeding three million per day, the facility plays a pivotal role in stimulating import substitution and job creation. It stands as a testament to the resilience of the country's economy, growing against the odds, despite illegal sanctions,” He stated
He also encouraged other stakeholders to ensure the delivery of quality products to consumers. He challenged them to implement quality systems that guarantee the excellence of their product, highlighting the importance of consumer satisfaction.
Moreover, President Mnangagwa commended NOIC for the successful completion of the first phase of the project. The construction of a holding facility with a capacity of 2000 metric tonnes of LP Gas which ensures consistent availability and eliminates potential stockouts.
