The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC), which dismally lost the August 2023 elections, is allegedly inciting civil disobedience and violence against Government during the up-coming SADC Summit, which is set to take place in Harare this August.

According to a source close to the developments, CCC losing candidate in the August 2023 Harmonised General elections for Gutu Central Constituency, Mathew Takaona is the key instigator of the planned skirmishes.

“Takaona’s speech at the burial of CCC activist, Elias Chimuka at Zharare village in ward 38 was incendiary, directly calling on the people to take to the streets and confront Government through violent demonstrations. This event appears to be part of a broader strategy by the Chamisa faction to destabilize the current administration through civil unrest,” the source added

In addition to the call for violence, the source also revealed that the CCC was actively preparing for a series of demonstrations aimed at drawing the attention of the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

“Preparations for these SADC demonstrations are reportedly underway, with nearly 3,000 T-shirts printed to distribute among supporters. The Chamisa faction’s continued acts of violence and efforts to garner relevance through acts of civil unrest are troubling,” the source disclosed.

The source further detailed that the CCC plans to escalate their activities in the coming weeks.

“There are coordinated protests and strategic disruptions intended to cripple key Government functions. They are also leveraging social media platforms to organize flash mobs and spread their message rapidly,” the source revealed.

Meanwhile, Government has urged citizens to remain calm and avoid participating in unlawful activities, emphasizing the importance of maintaining peace and stability during these uncertain times. The authorities have also reiterated their commitment to upholding the rule of law and ensuring the safety and security of all Zimbabweans.
