Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) claims that its Guruve based staunch supporter, Godfrey Karembera popularly known as Madzibaba ve Shanduko was facing eviction from his rural home for being an opposition supporter was dismissed as lies.
Yesterday, CCC interim national spokesperson Fadzayi Mahere tweeted that she had received reports that Karembera was summoned by Chief Chipuriro and was facing eviction from that area because of his opposition links.
However, a source who spoke to this publication said that it was a lie that Karembera was facing eviction from his rural area and added that the opposition member was never summoned to Chief Chipuriro’s court to explain his opposition links.
“It’s a lie that Karembera is facing eviction from his Guruve rural home. No one has threatened him with eviction. He is living his normal life and is mostly seen donning his CCC regalia without any disturbances. It’s a lie that he has been summoned to Chief Chipuriro’s court to explain his links with CCC,” said the source.
The same source urged CCC to first verify facts before spreading falsehoods that causes unnecessary tension in the country.
“CCC should first verify facts before spreading falsehoods. Mahere as a lawyer should know that it’s wrong to spread falsehoods just to score cheap political goals. Madzibaba ve Shanduko is safe in Guruve doing his opposition politics,” added the source.
Political analyst, Terrence Chipwanya added that the country was now entering a season where opposition political parties would fabricate stories just to tarnish the image of the Government and the ruling Party.
“We are now entering that season where opposition political parties would fabricate stories in a bid to tarnish the image of the Government and the ruling Party. As we go towards elections, CCC would want to elicit for sympathy from its supporters and the international community hence it will try every political trick, including playing a victim of alleged ZANU PF violence, just to get the attention of the international community,” said Chipwanya.
Efforts to get a comment from Karembera and Chief Chipuriro were futile as their mobile phones were not reachable.
