Chamisa will not win 2023 elections-Chin’ono

Journalist cum political activist and Government critic, Hopewell Chin’ono, has sensationally claimed that the MDC Alliance leader Nelson Chamisa will not win the forth-coming elections because he was surrounded by clueless people.

Writing on his Facebook page yesterday, Chin’ono said he has told Chamisa that it was impossible for him to win any elections as people who surround him were not critical thinkers.

“Nelson Chamisa is my friend, I have told him that you cannot win elections without critical thinkers around you,” wrote Chin’ono.

Over the weekend during a Zoom discussion hosted by Chin’ono, prominent lawyer and National Constitutional Assembly leader, Lovemore Madhuku, also said that Chamisa was unelectable and that his political capital has greatly dwindled.

“Chamisa has been in politics for two decades and if he was unable to secure the Secretary General post in the MDC all those years, then he should forget about contesting with (President) Mnangagwa and find another thing to do,” said Prof Madhuku.

Prof Madhuku added that Chamisa was politically insignificant and cannot be compared to President Mnangagwa.

“As of now, Nelson Chamisa has no power in politics and his influence in the nation was reduced to alarming rate. Therefore, Chamisa competing against or comparing himself with President Mnangagwa is like starting a war between a cat and an elephant,” added Prof Madhuku.

However, political analyst Tawanda Chabayanzara described Prof Madhuku as a learned man who calls a spade a spade and described Chin’ono as a man desperately trying to arm-twist Chamisa into appointing him as one of his advisors.

“Chin’ono is a clever guy. He is simply sending an invitation to Chamisa to come and get him into the MDC Alliance leadership position.  He is positioning himself to be appointed as an advisor to Chamisa. However, Prof Madhuku is a calculative man who is telling the truth about Chamisa. Chamisa should critically examine himself and see why his political capital is dwindling by each passing day,” said Chabayanzara.

Chabayanzara added that Chin’ono has always been critical of Chamisa as last year he insinuated that his appointment of Welshman Ncube to deal with International Relations affairs while Tendai Biti was tasked to oversee Policy and Administration affairs was a great oversight by the MDC Alliance leader.

Recently, MDC Alliance supporters and sympathizers have been critical of Chamisa whom they accuse of lacking a clear political strategy to improve political fortunes of the opposition movement.
