VP Chiwenga lambasts MDC councils

MDC led councils were yesterday lambasted by Vice President and Second Secretary of the ruling Party Constantino Chiwenga for poor service delivery and corruption.

Addressing thousands of Zanu PF supporters in Kuwadzana while mobilising support for Zanu PF candidates in the constituency, Vice President Chiwenga said its high time the electorate got rid of these incompetent and corrupt MDC councillors, highlighting that since the opposition party took over most urban councils in 2000, service delivery had been on a nosedive.

“Challenges being faced by residents now are a result of corruption in MDC-T led local authorities. They are busy allocating themselves and desperate home seekers, residential stand on partisan lines and on undesignated areas.

“Roads are full of potholes, residents always receive dirty water, water pipes which were used during Smith regime are still being used and they are now too old for that, that`s why they are bursting time and again,” he said.

VP Chiwenga also took a dig into the MDC leader, Nelson Chamisa for failing to develop his own Kuwadzana constituency yet promising to turn around the country`s economy.

“We have a president of an opposition political party who is promising spaghetti roads and bullet trains yet he has failed to finish building just a single library and sinking a borehole in his constituency. There are potholes everywhere, there are no street lights in his constituency and children are walking in the dark at night. We should vote for competent and capable leaders,” he said.

Prior to his Kuwadzana rally, Vice President Chiwenga addressed Zanu PF supporters in Belvedere and Mabelreign where he was mobilising support for Zanu PF support ahead of this month`s election.
