Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) has refuted allegations that it has, in collaboration with Zanu PF, registered a new political party-the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC) Zimbabwe.

“ZEC does not register political parties. Those with new formations simply inform the commission of the existence of their new parties through a letter accompanied by the party`s logo and constitution.

“Please note that you cannot use an already existing logo and the following prohibited symbols, flame lily, cheetah, elephant, secretary bird, flaming torch, leopard, lion, buffalo, griffon, owl, bird of the prey, cobra, sword, rhinoceros, laurel wreath and axe,” posted ZEC.

“ZEC has registered another party called MDC, same name as the MDC party led by Nelson Chamisa and it’s based in Gweru. What does that mean,” tweeted Zimeye.
