President Emmerson Mnangagwa today officiated at the clean-up campaign in Domboshava, Mashonaland East Province where he assured people that no one will die of hunger in the new dispensation.
The President said that the department of social welfare, traditional leaders, and councillors would identify those in need of food aid in their areas of jurisdiction.
President Mnangagwa urged Domboshava authorities to come up with properly planned settlements for development to take place.
“There should be proper planning of settlements in your area to make it easier for the installation of services like water and sewer reticulation and construction of roads,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said the country`s economy was negatively affected by the sanctions imposed on the country following the land reform programme.
“We, however, should not bury our heads in the sand and continue to mourn about sanctions. We should make use of the land and government will continue supporting you through Command Agriculture and the Presidential Input Support Scheme,” he said.
Speaking on the issue of electricity, President Mnangagwa said he was engaging his Mozambican and South African counter parts for solutions.
“We have met with the Mozambicans so that we get more electricity from there and we will also meet South African president, Cyril Ramaphosa on Sunday to discuss if we could get more electricity from there,” he said.
President Mnangagwa said Government will be launching more Zupco buses that will arrive in the country next week.
