HIT committed to the modernization of Zimbabwe

Harare Institute of Technology (HIT) has assured the nation that its mandate is to contribute to the industrialisation and modernisation of Zimbabwe.

Speaking during HIT’s 9th graduation ceremony on Friday, the institution’s Vice Chancellor, Engineer Quinton Kanhukamwe said, “We wish therefore to reassure you, Your Excellency that HIT shall strive to uphold and deliver on its mandate which is to develop, incubate, commercialise and transfer technology that contribute to the industrialisation, and modernization of our great nation. Our Destiny is to be the stimulant of scholarship in innovation.”

Engineer Kanhukamwe added that HIT does not only aspire to be the centre of excellence in Science, Engineering and Technology Research, but the institution is seized with the implementation of Education that will bring to the table technological solutions that are responsive and address national needs.

He went on to talk about the industrial revolution saying “the fourth industrial revolution (Industry 4.0) is now before us, where data and the interconnectedness of machinery and the internet of things are driving new efficiencies and innovation.”

HIT capped 364 graduands who were drawn from the Institute`s four departments, namely Engineering and Technology, Industrial Sciences and Technology, Information Science and Technology and Business and Management Sciences.

The University is introducing Postgraduate degree programmes starting in January next year. This will be in line with the institution`s drive to enhance their capacity in teaching and research in the technological areas the University has gained over the past years.
