Chamisa continues with his coup agenda

Opposition political leader, Nelson Chamisa has once again threatened to embark on protests to overthrow President Emmerson Mnangagwa`s Government which he continues to describe as illegitimate.

Addressing journalists at a press conference on the current economic crisis at Morgan Tsvangirai House today, Chamisa noted that they will not rest until they are declared 30 July election winners.

“As far as we are concerned, we must go back to the path of legitimacy by reversing the coup of July 30. We want the will of the people to be respected. The Government is at war with the people. They know they did not win the mandate of the people,” he said.

In July 2018, Chamisa lost the presidential election to President Mnangagwa after getting 44.3% of the vote, against later’s 50.8% before it was revised down to 50.6%.

Chamisa shamelessly denied their involvement in the August 1 violence that claimed six lives, discrediting the commission of enquiry led by former South African President Motlante Kgalema that was set up by President Mnangagwa to investigate the matter.

“The commission has no legitimacy in our context. It was appointed by an illegitimate person. We don't control instruments of terror, we don't control tools of force used on August 1. The MDC has nothing to do with Motlanthe Commission because we do not expect Mnangagwa to investigate himself,” he said.

Surprisingly some MDC elements which include their Youth Assembly secretary general, Lovemore Chinoputsa and Makomborero Haruzivishe appeared before the same Commission they are discrediting,   accusing Zanu-PF of causing the violence.

Chamisa also indicated that his party will proceed with their anniversary celebrations even if the police refuse them, alleging that the ruling party is using cholera outbreak as an excuse to ban them from carrying out their activities.

“Cholera has helped Zanu PF to ban our activities. This weekend we have said if police indicate they are not willing to let us proceed, we have to do everything that is necessary to proceed with that meeting. We can`t afford to continue postponing it and we call on all our supporters to attend,” he said.

Sources within the opposition party have revealed that their party have planned massive violent demonstrations during their anniversary in an effort to tarnish the image of President Mnangagwa`s Government and that of the ruling party.

The MDC leader wants to use demonstrations as a tool to pressure President Mnangagwa to resign. The August 1 demonstrations were rehearsed. The MDC leader wanted to use the street demonstrations to remove the Government and bring themselves into power with the help and funding of non-governmental organisations which fund their activities.
