President Mnangagwa has reaffirmed his unwavering commitment to safeguarding Zimbabwe’s unity and fostering social cohesion, urging the nation to reject divisive tendencies that threaten national stability.

Delivering his State of the Nation Address (SONA) at the New Parliament Building in Mt. Hampden yesterday, President Mnangagwa emphasised the critical importance of national unity, calling it the foundation of Zimbabwe's strength.

"Our nation's strength lies in its unity and diversity," President Mnangagwa declared.

The President condemned divisive behaviours rooted in regional, tribal, and socio-economic differences, which he said have no place in a progressive Zimbabwe.

"Social cohesion and our unitary state shall be jealously guarded and defended by my Government. Tendencies that fuel discord based upon perceived regional and tribal differences, as well as social and economic hierarchies, must be rejected," said the President.

President Mnangagwa underscored that his administration is focused on improving the well-being of all Zimbabweans through a stable, secure, and united nation.

Despite the significant challenges posed by illegal economic sanctions, he pointed to encouraging progress in key sectors such as mining, agriculture, and infrastructure development.

The President highlighted his administration's commitment to ensuring no citizen or region is left behind in the nation's transformative journey.

“Our philosophy of leaving no one and no place behind is anchored on inclusive transformation and shared prosperity. Despite the enormous challenges and difficulties caused by illegal economic sanctions, we are recording encouraging progress across various sectors. My Government remains committed to fulfilling the promises made by our ruling party, Zanu PF, and to enhancing the well-being of our people,” added the President.

The President reiterated that Zimbabweans have a collective duty to safeguard the country's independence, sovereignty, peace, and freedom.

He reminded citizens of their responsibility to protect the unity that has been hard-fought for over the years.

Buhera West Member of Parliament, Tafadzwa Mugwadi, hailed President Mnangagwa’s address as an inspiring and forward-looking vision for Zimbabwe’s future.

Mugwadi praised the President’s steadfast dedication to national unity, describing it as essential for Zimbabwe’s growth and development.

He commended Mnangagwa’s leadership in ensuring that no Zimbabwean is marginalised, especially at such a pivotal moment in the nation's history.

"President Mnangagwa's State of the Nation Address demonstrated his unrelenting commitment to uniting the nation. His message of unity is not just a political statement but a vital vision for our collective future. As a country, we have faced historical divisions, but his leadership continues to steer us toward social cohesion and shared prosperity. His administration’s efforts to stabilise the economy, build infrastructure, and foster development across all regions are nothing short of remarkable. We must rally behind his call for unity as it is the key to unlocking Zimbabwe's true potential,” Mugwadi said.

Zimbabwe has historically grappled with regional, tribal, and socio-economic divides, but the President’s vision is clear: unity and social cohesion will drive the country forward toward a brighter, more prosperous future.
