‘Vote MPs, councillors with a vision’

As next year’s by-election and the 2023 harmonised are looming, the electorate has been urged to vote wisely and elect people with a vision to develop the nation.

Speaking in Gweru yesterday, President Emmerson Mnangagwa said that local authorities that were under the purview of the opposition were performing badly and had failed to provide basic services to the people.

“My government remains concerned with those local authorities who have persistently failed in their mandate to deliver quality and basic services and social amenities. I urge our people to ride on the 2022 by elections and 2023 harmonised elections to vote councillors and Members of Parliament with integrity and the people at heart in delivering a better quality of life,” said the President.

The President added that unlike the opposition, the ZANU PF-led government was determined to improve people’s lives and was currently developing factories in rural areas to benefit the local people.

“In order to develop every part of the country, we have been identifying the products and business that people in a specific area thrive in. For example, in Mutoko most people there are into market gardening and for years, they have been toiling, incurring losses while taking their produce to Harare, but now we have built a one stop market there and farmers in Mutoko now have a ready market.

“The same in Mwenezi, Masvingo Province, we recently established an amarula plant where the locals can now simply go out and gather amarula fruits before taking them to the plant for sale. This is how we are working in building our Zimbabwe together”, said the President.

Since it was elected into power, the Second Republic has been implementing various life changing programmes across the country. It has provided water, farming inputs and other basic services to the people.

Government has also taken over the refurbishment of roads and infrastructure in towns after the opposition-led council that controls the same failed in their mandate of delivering better services to the people.
