The Nelson Chamisa led MDC has in the past month been playing hide and seek with the deputy sheriff's office, evading the auctioning of office furniture to settle a long overdue court order.

The new development comes amid revelations leaking from Kwame Nkrumah Avenue that the party's chief of staff and former Gweru Mayor, Sesel Zvidzayi has swept offices clean of furniture so that the Deputy Sheriff will arrive into empty offices.

In a nasty labour dispute, the High Court ruled in favour of disgruntled former workers who included former Director General in the party, Toendepi Shonhe forcing the party to pay a staggering $400 000 to settle unpaid wages.

The MDC, which ironically purports to be a champion of workers' rights, had gone for months on end without paying its workers leaving the workers with the legal route to recover the product of their labour.

As if that was not enough, the party has decided to offer passive resistance to the only recourse the workers have through evacuating furniture to an undisclosed venue in the northern suburbs.

Eye witnesses to the furniture evacuation say top of the range furniture, which unnamed Harvest House workers say were retrieved from the offices of the presidium and at least four other senior staffers, was deliberately removed as a means of opposing the court judgment or at least to scuttle it.

The party was dragged to court in 2017 for flagrantly decimating the right of workers to fair compensation.

The Harvest House irony is that the party leadership pampers itself with top drawer perks while the bankrupt party’s foot soldiers are left without pay and benefits.
