In a welcome development for citizens grappling with two months of erratic power supply, the Zimbabwe Electricity Supply Authority (ZESA) has pledged to restore normalcy by the end of November.

The announcement has been met with applause from the public, who expressed relief and optimism for the imminent end of load-shedding.

Speaking to our publication today, Martin Samba, a butcher from Machipisa shopping center, commended the Minister of Energy and Power Development, Edgar Moyo, for the commitment to bring electricity supplies back to normal.

Samba emphasized the impact of power cuts on businesses, stating, "I cannot wait for the end of this load-shedding and the return of stable electricity."

Maria Chiutsi, another resident, welcomed the announcement, seeing it as a beacon of hope amid the challenges posed by power cuts.

She noted the positive implications for both businesses and households, stating, "For businesses, the prospect of uninterrupted electricity means a boost in productivity and a reduction in reliance on expensive generators. For households, it signifies a return to normalcy, allowing us to enjoy the comforts of our homes without the constant disruption of power supply."

Rutendo Ngoni, employed in a clothing factory, echoed the same sentiments, emphasizing the importance of stable electricity for economic and social development.

"I really appreciate the news. It shows how the Government recognizes the importance of stable electricity supply for the country's economic and social development. With a reliable power supply, businesses can thrive, industries can expand, and the overall quality of life can improve," said Ngoni.

Last week, Minister Moyo announced that Hwange Power Station's Unit 7 was undergoing maintenance and would be back online in the next two weeks.

The Minister further revealed ongoing negotiations to increase electricity imports and expedite the rehabilitation of Units 1 to 6 at Hwange Power Station to alleviate the current load-shedding.

The efforts underscore the Government's commitment to addressing the power supply challenges faced by citizens and businesses alike.
