The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) co-deputy leader, Lynette Karenyi-Kore, is alleged to have organised a protest against that party leader, Nelson Chamisa`s dictatorial tendencies, the Harare Post has learned.

A source who spoke to this publication revealed that Karenyi-Kore mobilised five youths from her constituency to raise placards in protest against Chamisa during a CCC rally that was held in Mutare on September 28, 2023.

“The CCC senior members are disgruntled with the way their leader, Nelson Chamisa, is running that party. Chamisa is being accused of being an inconsiderate dictator. His behaviour irked CCC co-deputy president, Lynette Karenyi-Kore, who then organised five youths from her constituency to protest against Chamisa during a rally that was held in Mutare on September 28.

“However, some CCC youths had to stop the protest by manhandling the protestors who were then asked to leave the scene. The most worrisome thing is that the other two co-deputies, Tendai Biti and Welshman Ncube, are also disgruntled and plotting ways to remove Chamisa from leadership,” said the source.

The source further added that prior to Chamisa`s address, there were 300 CCC supporters who demonstrated against CCC Chief Whip, Prosper Mutseyami. Mutseyami is viewed as Chamisa`s blue-eyed boy.

“Mutseyami is accused of de-campaigning Ward 11 Mutare City Councillor, Simon Chabuka for the mayoral post. He was acting on Chamisa`s directive, who is in favour of Ward 8 Councillor, Sophia Gwasira. They had banners written “Mutseyami must go,” which were raised in front of Chamisa before his speech. The banners were snatched by the party’s security details,” said the source.

Furthermore, Chabuka hired hooligans led by Mutare Rank Marshal, Jealous Mukorera to assault Mutseyami. Chabuka claimed that he was being targeted by Mutseyami because of his links with Tendai Biti. He added that all members who were Biti loyalties were being stripped of influential positions within that party.
