The weather was not that conducive to an extent that someone could be tempted to spend the whole day between the sheets. There were some early morning showers that in some cases could have dampened the spirits of the Zanu PF supporters in Mashonaland Central Province, thus discouraging them from thronging Chipadze stadium.

But alas it was not the case as thousands of Zanu PF supporters braved the chilli weather and came in their unprecedented numbers to listen to their icon who is none other than the Zanu PF presidential candidate, President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa.

It was indeed proven that Mashonaland Central province is not yet ready to deviate from the legacy of being the heart of the Liberation struggle. The people showed that the province is still solidly behind the ruling party.

Addressing a crowd of around 15 000 supporters, Vice President Constantino Chiwenga buttressed the overwhelming turnout by saying that, “Mashonaland Central was the heart of the liberation struggle and the province inofanira kuramba iri musvo weZanu PF”.

True to VP Chiwenga’s remarks, the crowd showed just that.

The crowd was constantly sent into frenzy each time the President chronicled how the new dispensation endeavours to fight corruption and revive the fortunes of the country that have for so long been a laughing stock due to mismanagement by the old regime.

“Kana ukaita mari yako yakawanda zvakanaka asi hatidi yokuba”, said the President before giving a chilli warning to land and cash barons.

Whatever will come out of the election, Mashonaland Central has given ED a reason not worry as he is guaranteed of their vote. The numbers spoke for themselves and a pointer to what is coming on 30 July.
