Mugabe offside?

Editorial

Speculation continues to surge over who is funding Chamisa, with some claiming it is former President Robert Mugabe.

This week Chamisa put up billboards in the Central Business District (CBD) and surrounding suburbs, forcing his party to dig deep into campaign budget.

Mugabe is not new in controversy ever since his resignation, as he seeks to discredit his erstwhile political party Zanu PF.

In a post on microblogging site Twitter Trends SADC ™ posted that, “Speculation is mounting that former Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe is funding the MDC Alliance in exchange for a Deputy President position for his wife Grace Mugabe.”

Recently in an interview with Studio 7 VOA, Sarah Mahoka made the startling disclosure that NPF was throwing its weight behind Chamisa, an assertion that NPF Spokesperson also solidified.

MDC-T Deputy Treasurer-General Chalton Hwende could not be reached for comment. However, Mugabe has remained mum on the matter.

Addressing a rally in Marondera over the weekend, Chamisa did not help the situation by publicly disclosing that Mugabe was supporting him.
